Howdy gents.

Right, seems to be a common problem around everywhere lately. I'm getting loads of people asking me to sort out their wireless routers!
Lots of my friends and family have the same problem. They all have Virgin Media Cable installed with the little black modem, and a wireless router!

Once upon a time they all worked fine, then all of a sudden they stopped working. If you ethernet your PC/ Laptop straight into your modem it will work. If you connect the modem to the WAN on the router, then ethernet to PC it will not work.

The router tells us there is no communication between itself and the Virgin Modem. There is no internet connection and no lights (send/recv) flash on the modem.
I've tried configuring the router in all attempts. Such as resetting config and what not. I tried telling the router to use the modems MAC Address.

As far as I know Virgin uses dynamic IP's and thus you should be able to plug it in and it will just work. I don't use Virgin myself, so... Do they give you a username and password and HOW ARE YOU GUYS DOING THIS?

Help is much appreciated. I genuinly want to get this fixed, tried google to no avail and Virgin tell me they don't deal with routers.
Thanks!

If you change what is connected to the modem (from PC -> router, or swap to another router - IE anything that changes to the MAC address) you have to reboot the modem and get it to go through the DHCP process again.

You don't seem to be describing that so I'm not sure what's going on here.
