Virgin Media SuperHub

WOL = wake on lan? Are you saying the superhub does not support this?
As for QOS, what bit does not work?
Torrents - why are you having problems with net slow down 15 minutes after? Have you disabled IP flood detection?

Yep, wake on LAN...apparently there is no WOL facility within the superhub's firmware.

The bit where there is any :p. Limiting bandwidth != QoS. The WRT for example prioritises internet traffic on a real time basis depending on what it is.

Dunno will check this later.

Yes it was totally invalid and your comments make no sense. .
Like I said its my opinion that its not invalid and I stated my reasons why if you don't agree fine but there is no need for your post to become rude and defensive.

It is obviously fine for the masses but then again the people who normally go for the 100mb first are the people like me you and anyone else with a bit of network knowledge that wants to configure there equipment how they like it. And as for the pricing its all fair and well saying its £30 but that is the price your paying to rent it. It's not yours to keep. You shouldn't have to use workarounds or other methods to get what you USED to get as standard.

And as for saving costs you would think they would learn from the WNR2000 netgear fiasco that netgear are utter tripe.

My apologies I am not trying to be rude, I am only trying to point out that I do not believe that supplying an all-in-one box to people is a bad thing, since the people that never had routers will not have to pay extra for them.

For us enthusiasts, yes it's not ideal, but can be circumvented as displayed above.

LOL does it not have QOS at all? Yeah I knew what is was :) Just thought they had implemented a basic version. Shows how much I have actually bothered to look about the menu options. I literally just configured static DHCP reservation, wireless access list, wireless details, ports etc and then just logged out and it's been like that for weeks all working good. I even put a rule in to block net access for a certain client on my lan and all works fine.

Real shame about WOL facility... I think. To be honest it's not something I have used but I was thinking of using it. Are you saying there is no physical way to use WOL and anything behind this router? Surely I can use another client to send a magic packet? I think you are talking about the router having the functionality to be able to send such requests itself via built in firmware right? Yeah I do recall my WRT54GL being able to do this but can't I use another client to do this on the LAN?

You can but I've had very mixed results with it when I tested out various ways. As I said the only consistent way I found of waking a my computers up was using the option in Tomato.

Technically there shouldn't be anything stopping you from using WOL inside your network or even from outside providing your router doesn't block the magic packet. Give it ago, I found Depicus was a good starting point :)

Port blocking and MAC filtering are the only settings even vaguely related that I can find.

Regarding WOL, yes I am talking about the ability or otherwise of the router to be able to send a magic packet to the client in question. You can use another client, i.e. software on another PC, but...you'd surely need to use another client on the home network, thereby defeating the purpose as another client needs to be switched on.

Which leaves you WOL over internet.

WOL over internet requires you to automatically forward certain ports from the router, though I'm not certain of how this works.

Regarding port forwarding, do you happen to have tried to forward the same port number to two different local IPs? When I try, I get the message 'status: port range is overlap'!
