Virgin Media..who is having problem with consoles?

I have quite a few friends who use virgin for xbox live and every single one of them was having problems tonight. Getting kicked out of our party, getting disconnected, saying they had lag in gears 3 when I was fine playing it. I'm really glad I don't use them anymore!

well VM is single handedly destroying my W/L ratio on Blops.

Start game VM user pulls host > people leave > connection interrupted > people join > connection interrupted > couple of mins later > connection interrupted > black screen, host kicked and another chalk on the loss stat.

So that's why you wont play with me anymore. :p ;)

I'll put this here as well.

On a side note though about the Virgin issues:

I work with someone whos mate is high up on the technical team at Virgin. He has been put on a team of 20 people to investigate and solve the issues that people over at the Virgin Community forums have been reporting.

The lad I work with is confident it will get sorted now, as word has it people high up at Virgin are aware now and this is attracting the wrong kind of attention.

Fingers crossed.

Is there anyway you can get some technical detail on what has gone wrong and how the management is implemented? Email in trust ;)

People high up are certainly aware as I emailed the CEO of VM who replied personally and has put me in touch with another chap in their head office.

Question is was it the traffic management?....have seen Virgin poeple say they trialed some people with the TM turned off from their lines and they still had problems with gaming....so must be sommin new they implemented. Plus over Bank holiday weekend my connection was being lost and I wasnt even on the console...its would just drop off, reset then, then would be connected again.

THis week I was to go for the 50mb line...cant see that happeneing, in fact I can see them coming to remove the BB, Phone and Tv..the only thing that has worked correctly in the past week has been the phone.

I can ask if he has been told anymore than just the standard response that has been coming out of Virgin.

Cheers, although I've just had a chief exec from the head offices on the phone asking me for details. VM (their core networking team) are using me a test bed tonight so I'll be online all night so I may invite a load of you into a party etc (if you're happy to run the risk of losing win streaks, affecting w/l ratio if it craps out) and see if we can recreate the problem enough to get it to show on their networks. :D

I should be on tonight, so count me in.

His understanding is, when it was introduced it was setup so it would not interfere with Live or other P2P stuff, but it obviously has and it's gone majorly wrong, they are now trying to figure out how to solve the problem and fix Live.

Is this just a superhub issue ?

I've had virgin for a while and even though i'm on the 50mb don't have the superhub.

I've got a Virgin Modem and a D-Link router running DD-WRT firmware.

somebody mentioned an updated superhub firmware as a fix.

Well thats no good to me because i aint got a superhub ! what about you ?

Yea thats the impression on their forums...they said to a question I posted that the PSP thing had been implemented since late last year...but my problems have been clearly only starting since about the start of April.

I dont know if its area specific, but seem mad if they rolled it out over many areas and not check.

I should be on, you probably wouldn't notice that many problems unless you pull host really! or somebody else on VM pulls host, people start leaving and joining thats when the real problems start.

I was also told they launched P2P last year, but it's since they introduced the P2P 'upstream management' that I have been having problems, and they did this March this year.

well the they turned it off for the test group and it made no difference so it's not that.

Thats why it's taking so long. Would also explain the reason i've not noticed it.
