Virgin planes for 150mb connection speeds

Oh dear, Virgin just called, they cant send anyone out today because no one that is "trained" in 50meg is free.

Trained! they read step by step screen shots off a peice of paper to set the thing up!! So frustrating, its not that hard, just come out a replace my modem and router!

150Mb - the throttling will cut in a bit smartish on that I would imagine!

Think I will be settling on 20Mb for the future (not counting free upgrades - but I think we have seen the end of those!)

Just as well my router supports 10/100/1000Mbps on the WAN port

150Mb/s = 10 seconds of full speed downloading then virgin's throtteling cuts in and reduces to 10MB/s

The limit that has to be reached before STM will be increased. With 20Mb being on a 3GB limit at prime time, i think 150Mb should be on 10GB perhaps, which at prime time should be more then enough, and even if it gets reduced to 10Mb, thats by far still very usable.

U need around 5-9mb connection for that, not 150. im on their 50mb service and its more than enough. upstream could be improved though

I thought TV needed 30mb of bandwidth?

tbh I think they should leave TV for satellites and use important bandwidth for playing games and downloading pr0n lol

you need 5-9mb for standard def tv, at least 15mb for 720p and more for 1080p have that plus any VoIP.

so say you use 20mb for an HD show, someone wants to watch a different channel in antother room in HD another 20mb. you record another show, equals 60mb. thats not an unfeasible situation then you can start thinking about things like video phones etc
