Virgin Wines

To be honest, if I just went down to Tescos with the intention of buying 12 bottles I'd probably just come home with 6 bottles of Blossom Hill red and 6 bottles of white. I'd only go with what I know and like.

My intention here is to have some different wines chosen for me, so I try some new things and expand my range of tastes beyond just Blossom Hill and Jacobs Creek. :)

You'd probably still do better at the super market! Your best bet is to go to somewhere where they can advise you, I've often been to le bon vin in Sheffield and said i'm looking for something thats a bit like x and always come away with something great. The personal touch cannot be beat and the quality of some of the wine being pushed by these wine clubs is questionable for the money!

Don't get me going on buying wine from supermarkets, what with their sky high prices and muddle marketing. Just about possible to get the right wine at the right price if you are careful but mostly they are a rip off.

Try Laithwaites. I am most impressed with their website, service and business ethics.

Well known brands carry a high premium on price. A decent wine merchant will find good quality unknown wines for a very reasonable price.

I got a £40 voucher for this place from Amazon the other day. Apparently you have to order a crate that costs >£80 in the first place, but still quite a nice discount.
