Virtual Machine Clock (time) keeps falling behind

My Raspberry Pi OS VM running in VirtualBox clock keeps falling behind/running slow.

rebooting corrects the time but constantly falls behind.

would this be due to lacking CPU power?

No experience with Raspberry Pi OS, but have you checked to see if NTP is enabled? VirtualBox usually syncs the VM time to the host machine but only on boot, after that it's up to the VM to sync its own time.

Not too uncommon unfortunately, disable Host<->VM time sync and set the VM to sync with NTP.

I can't find a way to disable host/VM sync in virtual box
installed/set up NTP on the VM and it's still lagging behind... hopefully will have more joy with this after I've had some tea lol
