Thanks, alough virtualbox looks like it is having problems with Vista.
Won't pick up the networking side of Vista to be able to have information flow.

I ended up installing Vista in MS VirtualPC 2K7.. Is fine now...

strange, this was after a full format / hotfix update e.t.c... What motherboard do you have? What LAN adaptors do you have?

if you just want to access the internet from within your guest os, you don't have to do anything. it should just work. :)

however if you want to do "proper" networking between guest and host, then it's not quite so straightforward. you need to use a command line app called "vboxmanage". you use this to create "virtual lan" adapters for each guest. you then bridge these virtual adapters with your real lan adapter. it's all in the manual. not quite as user friendly as vmware in this respect but it's a doddle once you've done it for the first time. :p
