Virtual PC or Virtual Server

Hi,

I am going to be setting up a physical server soon, but I also want to have a couple of virtual servers running on my other machine for educational purposes.

For the virtual servers is it better to use MS Virtual PC or MS Virtual Server. Only reason why I ask is because the Virtual PC allows you to install Server OS as well, and why not they are technically just glorified pc's.

Anyway whats the easiest most effective way to run virtual servers.

Thanks
Nick

Personally I'd use vmware if you have the option, you'll find it much easier to get help as its much more widely used (it's also very good and you can get a free version of it).

I'm also an avid VMware user, VPC or Virtual server just aren't as good imo.

Ah cheers, was looking for desktop apps and missed it, I take it I can install that on a standalone laptop and use it to run multiple OS's?

Only thing with the free version is you can't do some nice things like linked clones but other than that it's got all you need to get started :) Be sure to chuck in some extra RAM to your PC/Server though as it'll gobble it up.

Another vote for VMWare, it's a far superior product. Personally I use workstation, prefer it to Server for my requirements....But free is always good!
