I've got to do some Mac testing at work.

Looking to get a imac, can i then install virtual OSX installs on this? using VMware or simular, I know doing in on Windows is a nono. But actually on OSX?

Legally it's unclear (or was last time I checked), technically I hear that it can be made to work on vmware at least but I suspect discussion of how exactly is banned.

Ummn.

You can virtualise OS X but its only technically allowed to be the server version!

VMWare fusion will allow this

Last time I ran OS X as a VM it ran like a three legged dog that had it's remain legs tied together.

I know its againest running it on windows, I was unsure about actually on top of OSX.

Anybody know what the line is regarding running the server version on a bar metal hypervisor (i'm thinking ESX obviously)??

There is no problem with that as long as you have a valid license for ESX server.
