hi there....

I have a virus on my pc and it is stopping me from visiting any antivirus website...

I would be grateful for any tips on how to remove it?

yes i can get to both sites and download from them

what next?

i cannot however get to mse site, or avira, or avg etc
 
Run the Malwarebytes installer and see if that works.

If not try renaming it to bob or something and try again.

Not sure if Combofix has been updated since the days of XP so maybe hold off using this, until someone else can verify this.
 
i ran malwarebytes and it would not update, it found 2 things and claims to have removed them but it hasn't

i then tried installing an anti virus but again it would not allow me to navigate to any antivirus sites..

any more ideas would be greatly appreciate

hi

as you suggested i downloaded avast on a diff computer and it installed on the problematic one...

i have running a full scan now as we speak..

hopefully it will resolve the problems
 
I always format my drive and reinstall a backup image if I get a virus. My experience of anti virus software is that they are rubbish at removing viruses.
 
Ideally you should deal with malware offline by booting from a CD or USB stick e.g. Windows Defender Offline or Avira Rescue CD.
