Looking for a bit of help here. i seam to have what i think is a virus, how i dont know, However when ever i boot my windows updates are turned off, when i turn them back on it says it cant just wont work also i try setting all usual internet stuff to medeum-high settings apply ok and go back in and there back to the lowest. im getting a few pop ups nothing major,

What i have done is started in safe mode with internet disconected, I have run avast virus and found a few things and deleted them run it again nothing this time. this is on avast pro and settings at maximum, also ran ad aware pro at max and found few usual Tracker files and MRI files got writ of them but it found a malware doodah so i deleted it and ran it again it finds nothing,

I then load back into normal windows do the same and it finds nothing but i still cant change the settings it deffaults them, All of my virus and ad aware is current and up todate, I realy dont want a system restore any ideas?

orry about the heuge text and if spelling is bad i do try but not good at spelling

bledd's recommended solution works most times :)

disable system restore
remove whatever av you've got now

run..

ccleaner slim
nod32 av trial
spybot s&d
adaware
avg antispyware (remove this after)

put firefox on with adblock plus and Easylist subscription (do this on your pc too)

Do what Duke said. If it's still not gone then it might mean that a reformat is your only option.

I know it sounds severe but i've had 3 virii in my time working with computers, and i've just reformatted every time.

The only option. You will spend hours and hours attempting to clean in with other methods. Hours.

Fortunately, since this is probably only Adware, you will be able to back up your data without risk of corruption. Just make sure you have an updated on-demand virus scanner running when you move your data in case something tries to sneak through.
 
Try SuperAntispyware pro trial or the free version they have great detection and removal plus they have a repairs section to restore hijacked system and browser settings

I would also try Malewarebytes to find any left overs SAS doesn’t get
