hi running vista with 4gb of ram. This problem seems to come and go to some extent, but basically i cannot run anything from my cd or dvd drive. Last time this happened a couple of weeks ago i had a pretty much fresh install so just reinstalled it, but i really dont want to do that again. basically, the following message appears when i try to run anything from a disc drive:
"the application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail"
So i did and this is what it says :
"Activation context generation failed for "I:\autorun.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "I:\autorun.exe" on line 12. Invalid Xml syntax."
I have tried a few things but nothing seems to work and im not sure where to go from here.
Does anybody have any suggestions as I have googled the problem and there appears to be similar problems with vista but no firm solution
Cheers
Jim
