If there is no flash tool for vista, can someone explain how I put it on a bootable cd? have tried using the bios updater within the bios but it defaults to the a: drive i dont have!

Have you tried the following:

1 - right click on the awdflash program and run as administrator or

2 - Right click on the awdflash program, click properties, select compatibility tab and select "RUN THIS PROGRAM IN COMPATIBILITY MODE FOR WINDOWS XP SP2"

try that.

a, can someone explain how I put it on a bootable cd?

I can.
See here.

Add the files needed to upgrade your BIOS to cds\clean\bootdisk\ folder

It may seem drawn out, but saves explaining how to do it in whatever burning software you might have.
wnaspi32 is the burning software.

If this board has the option to boot from USB devices that's prolly even easier.
