So i Finally brought vista today at long last its all ok apart from a few small probs that im getting.

When i try to install dotnetfx3.0

i get a message saying "you must use " turn windows features on or off" in the cp to install or config .net framework 3

can some one tell me how still a nub with vista at mo

I cant seem to download dx10 from m$ site can anyone link me? the downloader does not connect to there server.

i also get random erros when installing various things is this due to being 64 bit ?

1. Have you done a windows update and installed all possible updates?
2. DX10 is already there, no need to download it.
3. Are you installing new versions of apps, a lot of things, like nero etc, have had their installers updated for vista

If you still have bother installing, right click on app and "Run as administrator", or change properties to XP compatiblity mode, or finally try disabling UAC, you can always turn it back on when your done,

yeah just done windows update but it still wont install dotnetfx for some reason.

3d mark 06 wont load up says it cant load a dll file (this application has failed to start because OpenAL32 was not found reinstall the application may fix this problem.

how do i disable uac mode?

thanks

.NET Framework 3.0 is included in Vista by default, as is DX10.

To turn off UAC go to Control Panel > select Classic View on the left > User Accounts > Turn User Account Contol on or off.

I would run Memtest86+ ,it's a bit better then Vista's built-in memory check IMHO,FYI I have been using Vista x64 since January and find it very stable.
