Hi there,

I've just tried installing my brand new OEM copy of Vista 64. It installed perfectly, but then the problems started. As soon as I got into the OS, and began exploring, I started getting various errors. These kept coming and coming and coming. Everything I opened up for more than a few minutes would 'stop responding' and I was then asked to report the error to microsoft. It took the p*** in the end when I was told 'windows error reporter has stopped responding...report this problem to microsoft?'

Vista also seems to BSOD randomly giving a whole array of errors... usb[something].sys was one of them. I cannot install any updates because whenever I try to, windows installer module stops responding and shuts itself. Following this, the window manager will stop responding, the explorer, and to top it all the system will probabaly just reboot out of the blue.

Specs are below. The memory is passing all its tests with no errors. I'm really at a loss hear...I thought this was meant to be easy?!?! It's been 6 hours since I installed Vista yet I still can't even install office.

Please help! I will be in your debt! :(

The motherboard runs on a VIA chipset. I have downloaded Vista 64 drivers for this...AGP/SATA/RAID/IDE/SOUND/Network etc.

Is it possible for the motherboard itself to be unsupported??

Hi again.
Sorry to be so persistent, but I really want to find a solution that doesn't involve replacing my motherboard. I have tried compiling a list of the various errors I have received. Do these mean anything to anyone?...

BSODs

- BAD_POOL_CALLER
- IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL
- APC_INDEX_MISMATCH
- PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Windows Process Errors

- Host Process
- Host Process (Rundll32)
- Windows Modules Installer
- Desktop Window Manager
- Internet Explorer
- Windows Live Messenger

Also, when booting the system, there is a very long delay between when the loading bar dissapears and when the login screen appears. There is no HDD activity. Almost as if it is waiting for something. Not sure if this help at all...

What is also very weird is that the PC will happily play some quite hardware intensive Call of Duty for upwards of 2hrs without a sign of trouble. But as soon as I start playing around with IE7/windows stuff, things start failing.
