I've run this system happily for 3 years, all updates installed, NOD32 running.
Recently I have Firefox and Windows Explorer "not responding", sometimes self-correcting after a few minutes, sometimes requiring a re-boot.
When re-booted the system stays at the green status bar for a very long time, even overnight, before loading Windows.
I've tried to do a System Restore with the OEM disk but it loads to a blue/green Vista screen and a cursor but nothing more.
I have managed to back up to an external SATA drive most of what I need, downloads, Itunes, emails and personal data but would still like to recover a bit more before I re-install.
If I can't even get to an installation page how the heck am I going to to re-install.
All ideas regarding causes/remedies gratefully received.
