Vista 64 Ultimate Problem

Hi,

I have some difficulty with Windows Update :-(

In the last week or so, Vista has been attempting to install updates - Internet Explorer 8 RC1 for example and failing.

Vista downloads the updates and attempts to install explorer but fails at 14%...

again

and again

I have searched high and low for a solution without success - any ideas what could be going wrong?

Any other problems in Vista at all?

Hard disk problems? Check your event log to see if there are disk related entries, maybe?

Hi Gents,

The machine has become sluggish to start and I had to disable Outlook searching.

I will have a look at the event log and see what this reveals,
