Vista and net security

Having built up a new pc and taken the plunge with Vista im slightly concerned with just how well the firewall actually works (the one that comes with Vista).

Previously i used kerio which served me well and was customisable to my needs but i've found the lack of Vista support for mainstream firewall applications surprising.

Im aware zone alarm has a Vista support however 1st off im worried its marketed more at the less tech savvy user and may not cater to my needs and secondly they only seem to be bundling it with antivirus (for which i have Nod32).

So whats peoples views? Im running my router to this PC in DMZ mode at times for server apps but not permanently till im sure this PC is secure. Are there any firewalls out there, with full v64 support that are reccomended by you guys or do i have to trust my net security to MS longterm?

Mainly for server-esque apps and (legal) p2p/bittorrent usage. Saves me mapping ports in my antiquated router :).

Was never an issue with a fully integrated firewall, and ran DMZ permanently in the past but now im only using the Windows one hence my worries about the security of it all.

If it helps, I run on DMZ for P2P, Remote and Virtual and mapping is a pain.

I dont trust the Vista firewall purely because it only sees .exe launching for requests so I installed the free Zone Alarm and it works a treat :)

Hope that helps.
