Hi All,

I just brought a new pc with Vista on and want to install Opensuse and dual boot. There is already a spare partition on the hard drive and wanted to know is to resize this partition or to just delete it and use the whole partition for Opensuse?

Also.. What about dual booting?
Will Opensuse see Vista and install grub ok so I can select Vista or Opensuse?

I will be installing Opensuse 10.2 64 bit version.

Any other advice people may give me before I go to install

Thanks in advance,

Gordy

It shouldn't have any trouble seeing Vista and setting up the bootloader as it should. I wouldn't be concerned.

I'm not quite sure what you mean about the partitioning. You'll have to have a partition for Linux so if you've already got a spare one use it.

Make sure that 'spare' partition doesn't hold anything important though! ;)

Depending on the manufacturer that partition might hold the Vista installation files on it.

My packard bell laptop has an 8Gb partition with those files - which is actually pretty handy for when I decide I don't want to play around with opensuse anymore.

If the partition does hold the installer files, make sure you've created a recovery dvd before you do anything.

Might be worth checking the partitions in Vista first - even creating a new one in Vista just for opensuse.
