Hi all.
Has anyone read this? http://kadaitcha.cx/vista/index.html
It's an opinion piece giving very long winded descriptions on why Windows Vista is comparable to a dogs breakfast. (lol) I have used the finished RTM version of Vista and, frankly, I was shocked at how frustrating and slow it is compared to XP. Personally, I will be staying with XP until the last possible moment. It's not only the new features that are irritating, but windows vista is a privacy risk. It phones home to microsoft frequently, sending back god knows what information.

On the plus side, the new content protection will probably reduce illegal music hugely. Until its cracked that is =]

So what are other peoples opinions on this matter?

It seems much faster on my mates PC compared to when he had XP on it. Everything zips along superbly!

who asked you, its the guys first post,

If you dont like it dont post,

I have found it faster myself but i put it down to a fresh install, like XP its lightning until you install office etc

Well, my mate has loads of programs on it, including Office, Auto Route, AntiVirus Program, Firewall, Anti this and Anti that, Photo Software, Editing software, music software etc etc. It still loads really well and zips along much faster than XP!

Well people did ask for a vista forum and it was denied,

Whats the problem you know the title of the thread before you open it, Just let it pass if your not interested

Agreed 110% i wish dons would cut down on these vista threads :o

That's like saying, 'How about cutting down on people starting threads on; Different bits of hardware, certain TFT's, Different games, Cases etc etc. How many threads have been started about Antivirus programs, Firewalls, Coolermaster cases etc etc?

You will always get more threads of the same subject. If you are not happy about them then don't read them!

Please don't anyone else read that "article" its the biggest load of **** I've ever read. Half the things he is on about are clearly wrong, he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about!

Well i read about 70% of it got board

Seems some one who writen that just nip picking at things. there was few things in there were most round out idies and just pick out some thing els to have moan at.

Out all the things it talk about it never seem to say any thing about what i reed from pc mag or other good sorces

You could have writen simmler thing about xp when we move from ME or 98

You do realise that XP "phones home" too, don't you? They call it WGA.

Welcome to the forums :)

Right, first thing, if anyone objcts to the content of a thread there is a little known freature on vBulletin called RTM, this lets a moderator make a decision on whether he should delete it or not. Yewen loves the mail, make him happy ;) It's a useful function, use it and see.

As for the thread content? Well the guy that wrote the article in the OP is clearly a moron, I'd file this link under the one's from Paul Thurrot (in the bin).

The guy has no idea why MS did a lot of the stuff he's critising, it make sense when you think about it. For example the hibernate function to cut down start up times.

One quote:

If Windows setup detects a partition that is not formatted FAT32 or NTFS, say a Linux partition for example, and you want to install Windows in that partition, Windows setup tells you, "Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS." [Emphasis added]. That is patently false, disputed by Microsoft's own documentation even. Windows Vista can be installed to a FAT32 partition.

What do you expect? To be able to install Windows to an EXT3 partition? Get real. And why would you want to install it to a FAT32 partition? Do you want insecure, corrupted files?

There are lot of websites like this, take them all with a pinch of salt.

Or it could been hard drive over 30G and thats why he was told NTFS )i think 30G is the limit for FAT32 but forget now been log time since i had to use FAt32

FAT32 supports drives upto 2TB. But compared to NTFS it's really quite crap. The only reason I could possibly think of wanting FAT32 is lagacy support, but you're talking very old tech, even Linux can read NTFS.

he sums up a lot of problems with vista. people will realise sooner or later that vista is terrible operating system. one thing i would add also is the copy and overwrite function is completely flawed. it's shows up big pop up box which you need minutes to see what the hell is going. notice also when you delete a file from desktop it pops up another box telling you it's estimating time to delete file so i have to look at it for several seconds before it sends a file to recycle bin. it has so many irritating problems that i can't bear to use it for five minutes. i'm afraid microsoft employed some terrible programmers this time

Hardly, what he does do however; is a lot of scare mongering.

On the performance issues, have you ever thought your computer may not actually be up to the specification of running Vista? Hence why you're experiencing slow responce times.
