Vista clean install problem

I am trying to do a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64.

I have been having screen freezing problems so I thought I'd start again.
1 have 1 Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10000RPM SATA 16MB HD installed at present.

The problem is the windows installation CD boots up I can format the disk to install on.
I get the green tick ... Copying Windows files
but the screen freezes at .... Expanding files (62%).

I am thinking now its hardware related.

Any pointer much appreciated.

Try removing all of your RAM except one stick and only connecting what you actually need for the install. i.e 1 x HDD 1 x Optical drive.

Thanks will give it a go.

You think bad RAM is a major cause of hardware freezing?

Well you were right one of the sticks is not good.
All runnig well now.

Vista has a known issue installing and running with 4gb. Use the hotfix available from MS to sort it, tho it should be amongst the automatic updates
