My dad wanted a basic pc just for basic office stuff, so i got him a cheap dell with vista business and with integrated graphics as he doesnt need much, got the pc last night and everything was working fine, however today some of the visuals have been messing up

all the windows icons for the show desktop, documents and so on have disappeared and the explorer window occassionally turns all black like shown, however when i close explorer and open again the problem disappears for a short while
i tried going into display properties, however it said it couldnt find the page, i restarted and managed to get into the page however and tried loading the default vista themes and so on but with no success, any ideas on what the problem is?
its a 2ghz dual core, Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 aint great but does its enough for his needs
