I have Vista on my Shuttle and recently it has been having boot up issues. It never gets passed the Shuttle logo the momment I turn the machine on.

I have reset the BIOS a few times, but this hasn't fixed it. I have the most recent BIOS so no need to flash it.

It doesn't happen all the time. There's times where it will boot up with no problem at all so I'm stumped

Any ideas anyone?

Does this occasionally on mine. Abit motherboard. tbh though I hardly ever restart the thing (sleep mode).

Not really sure why it does this.

My old computer did something like this. If you don't have a USB keyboard then you can disable Legacy USB. Should fix it. However, don't disable if you have a USB keyboard or you won't be able to get into the BIOS!

Mine does it form time to time.

After POST when the OS boot loader loads (scrolling bar) it will just hang there randomly.

It did it on Vista32 and now on 64, It never did it on XP.

It's a Vista thing.

A quick hard reboot (reset switch on case) solves the issue though.

I am running overclocked so maybe this is a factor but it's stable in windows...

Get the HD checked out, I suspect that at the splash screen it's trying to detect the HD.

It could be this. The HD does make an odd sound (one that I havn't heard before) whilst trying to boot?

How would I go about sorting this out? Would replacing a HD with another HD with another OS simply work?

Find out the make of the hard drive and then get onto the manufacturers website and see if they have any utils for testing hard drives, most will do.
