Hi all,

As title really, in XP it was quite an easy thing to do under folder options->file types->change icon.

Yet in Vista, the file types tab is conveniently missing.

Anyone had any joy?

Thanks.

u could do this:

  1. Open the folder that contains the file you want to change.
  2. Right-click the file that you want to change, and then, depending on the type of file, either click Open With or point to Open With and then click Choose Default Program.
  3. Click the program that you want to use to open this file.

it's just not there, you can do it via reg entries for the file types though

someone will make a freeware utility for it i reckon

thanks for the replies folks,

@ Gareth: the problem I am having is changing the icon association, not the default program association, but thanks for the response.

It is only a minor nuisance, though it seems silly to me that they have removed this feature.
