Hi all

just building my new rig, see sig for details.

everything is going ok, BIOS says CPU is 25C etc

now when im having problems installing Vista.

first off i tried to use my SATA drive, with no luck

then i switch to an IDE drive.

first attempt, entered in the country, keybord layout, hit enter.

BSOD

now each time a reboot, all I get is a BSOD? saying i should uninstall any new hardwhere, which is a problem as there it is all new.

any ideas??

Hello crazyDAJT, I would highly suggest running your system back at sock settings and then see if the same problems still occur. :)

it is a stock, the only thing I have done is set up a my RAID array.

edit, just realised when booting form a DVD drive you have to hit enter when it prompts, so lets see if it works this time

I LOL'd. It says is when it detects a current OS on the drive. However if it was a new hd then it would go into boot mode without pressing any keys.

Hello crazyDAJT, I do apologize, I was getting the impression from your signature that you have already overclocked your machine.

Have you manually changed the memory values in the BIOS so they are running at their recommended settings? :)

no i'm not that nuts, straight of the bat. but i am scared of overclocking it now, i got the retail version of the Q6600 that nice 3 year warranty down the drain.

as for the memory settings, have left everything on auto, but i will lock them down after the install.

anyway, it looks like the power connector slipped out of the IDE drive. lol

now this is getting anoying

i have installed windows, and bean in it twice

but now each time I load it clams windows have crashed.

start windows normaly = BSOD
start in saffe mode dosn't even get to windows
i am trying to repair windows, have used a SATA DVD drive and am now using a IDE DVD drive, when i que it to boot form the DVD drive, it just go's back to the options for the windows crash.

I haven't bean online yet, will my product code be ok, so should i just fresh install

or is there any other better ideas out there??

now i have deleted the raid array.

reset CMOS

re set up the BIOS, reset up the raid array.

now i cant even get the thing to post

rest CMOS a few more time.

can get back into BIOS

am trying to load it off another IDE DVD drive, but am having no success??

any suggestions at all

i have noticed that bios sometimes locks up and wont let me do anything, is this a motherbord fault??

trying it with and without RAID to see if that was the problem, with no success, i can get it to boot form an IDE DVD drive,

it loads the windows files, i then get the windows loading bar for a few seconds, then the BSOD, 0X0000007E

going to try restart CMOS again and try installing with 2GB of ram

i locked down my ram settings an i seam to get a bit further,

800Mhz 5,5,5,15, i now actually a coloured wavy thing on the screen.

fingers crossed

Take your auto settings off the cpu and memory volts, set the cpu to 1.35 and memory to +.2 volts, nb + .1, and see if that helps.
