Actually just checked and it was set by default to one core. Switched it to two now so I'll see how this goes.

I've just found Vista to be much slower at booting than XP on any of my computers.

That's the best description of resource consumption of Windows OSes.

Same with me, except on my 36GB Raptor system. Which is strange because my other 320GB F1 system benches higher :confused:

woohoo iv'e just done a full tune up and got 27 seconds. sorry to go off topic a bit but i wonder if they have improved the boot time in windows 7 can anyone shed some light.

Vista takes longer from boot to logon screen on my new computer than it did on my old.

I'm not talking all the little **** that loads once you log on but rather the actual boot time. Go figure.

Windows 7 is still in beta but its boot times are better than vista as it has less bloat in it. But SSD is still the way to go for faster boot times with any OS

If the system has been running for a while it might be worth downloading Auslogic disk defrag and running that, and run CClearner first just to unclog the system.

downloaded that tune up thingy... did a defrag... destroyed one of my dll.. now my boot is down to 0 seconds

I just set my boot to use 4 procesors instead of whatever it defaulted to, no difference at all.

How about a 10 second vista boot?

I have a duo core E8400 with 4gig vista gold memory and ati 4850 gpu yet my 64bit vista ultimate can take over a minute to fully load. Windows 7 beta on my laptop takes about the same time too so its not a new os I suspect its vista in disguise
