Vista locking up

I'm in a state at the moment. Got urgent uni work to do and my laptop is playing up. In recent days it has become extremely unstable, but now it's ridiculous. Some things I do in vista cause the entire computer to just freeze there and then, this includes using the internet, photo viewer, iTunes etc

Did you upgrade recently? How much RAM on the laptop do you have?
