I'm not sure how to do it with XVID files but to do that with straight DVD rips which seems to be what the screen shot is showing you need to make a registry change to enable gallery mode.
If you Google for "vista dvd gallery" (without quotes) the first hit is a MS page which tells you what to change, (annoyingly for me it hasn't worked on one of my Vista boxes for some reason ).
All I can find is instructions on how to place xml files into the folder the video_ts folder is on. I supose i'll prob have to do something like that but with the avi in there..?
