Vista net issues

My USB modem just wont work with vista.

So I decided to get an extrernal ADSL modem router.
On the family PC I hooked it up via the network cable, I entered the ip in my web bowser and set it up and the internet runs fine.

But when I hook it up to my vista PCit recognises a network cable attatched but the net wont work.
When i type the IP address in the web browser (to enter the adsl optios) it wont let me in as I have no internet working?

Any ideas how to get it working on my PC?

Is the Vista machine getting an IP, subnet mask et al from the router?

it says that the IPv6 connectiviy is limited

Ignore IPv6. Is the machine getting a valid IPv4 address, subnet mask et al (i.e. not a 169.x.x.x IP)?

yup I checke its getting all that. Werid thing is when I fire up call of duty and click search for servers it actually found some servers!!!

So that means that the net is working but I cant seem to surf the internet on my browser, why not?

BTW I switched to XP and I get the same issue.

i tried google.com and it says that that was an illegal searcg :confused:
