Vista Not seeing HD

Just installed a new 320gb WD3200AAKS but Window vista 64 doesn't seem to see it for some reason. The HDD is visable in the bios and device manager but doesn't show as an icon in my computer.
It's a sata drive so doesn't need a master/slave jumper does it?

any ideas? :confused:

Have you set the partion and formatted the drive yet, windows wont give it a letter until you do.

didn't realise the hdd wouldn't have been formatted before sale :eek:

They come formatted, but they don't have a filesystem or partition table - Microsoft confuse the terms out of oversimplification. You very very rarely need to do a 'real' (low-level) format of a HD, and it's impossible on some HD's.
