Vista OEM

As it's a Eula. It is up to Microsoft how they reactivate it.
As long as you don't lie and they reactivate it over the phone. there deciding not to enforce there own contract. So I can't see how it's not legit.

Hey AcidHell2, most people that have purchased the OEM license of Windows have lied to the Microsoft agents to get Windows activated on other machines. If they had said that they have a OEM license and have changed their motherboard for performance upgrade purposes, the Microsoft agent will tell them they will have to go out and buy another license. :)

I am not quite sure why this thread has gone on for so long regarding the actual licensing terms. :(

If someone is asking for the licensing terms and people are stating them to that person, theirs then no need for people that don't agree with the terms to come along and say things like "just keep doing it, who cares", this just confuses matters even more. If you wish to do that, ask them for their hotmail address and then you can talk to them all day long on what you think of them. :)

I only said it as some people think it's totally illegal how ever it's done. Which it's not. Some of the MS people are very under trained and will happily reactivate when they shouldn't.

I agree most people do lie. But not always.

Hey AcidHell2, I wasn't aiming that comment at you by the way (Or anyone, just a gerneral comment :p), I do apologize if it looked that way and if i came across a bit of an idiot. :)

Don't these people still get caught out by the WGA system which would eventually stop them from updates?

I assume that you're only using it on one PC?

I was asking if the WGA stops updates when a single PC (OEM, retail or upgrade) licence has been used on multiple PCs simultaneously.

Yep, just the one PC at a time. Ive only ever had to phone Microsoft the once and that was the first time i re-used it. since then it has automaticaly validated itself over the net.

Of course people lie to get their copy of Windows reactivated.
The staff on the end of the activation line are very much "first level".
However I can tell you now that if you called up to activate Windows and actually told the truth - "Yes the motherboard has been replaced" and "No, it wasn't because of a warranty replacement" you would not get your product reactivated.

If you agree with this is really irelevant to this thread.
If people want to know the licensing rules then they have access to them - all this "Do it anyway" balls really doesn't help those people who don't like thieving from working out what can and cannot be done under their license agreement.
If you want to talk illegal practices there are plenty of forums around where you can post "M$" and "Micro$oft" and tell the world how evil there are.
These forums however mainly has morals and the discussion of legality.

Says the man who quite openly admits that he is currently using an illegal copy of Windows.

At no point have i lied when using this version of XP, the one time i activated over the phone i just asked to activate and it was done. No dont jump on your high horse about illigal acts, if you have ever used a mobile while driving or thrown chewing gum out of a car window then that is also illigal. I bought a copy of XP and am going to use it, incidently out of interest what law would i be breaking other than the policy of a large corperation?
