Far far away....
As a few of us installed Vista Pre RC1 i thought it might be a good idea to have a thread to discuss software applications etc.

Could we all list whatever apps we have running, what has failed, what has bugs etc.

How are people getting Steam on to their system? I kept getting an error about failing to WriteMiniDump or something like that on 5536, when it tries to update the Steam platform files.

Daemon Tools v4.0.3 nor Alcohol 120% (latest build) will install.

Steam is fine for me! Worked straight away even without deleting clientregistry.blob :D

I've got Toca RD3 installed and working on it now, with a patch update for cd protection drivers.

Those of you who have it installed is it yet good enough to replace XP? Any of you have a Canon SLR camera and tried installing the Zoombrowser software? That was the only reason I had to switch back from XP x64. :(

right click on steam.exe > run as admin.
thats how i got it to work

I have only really tried games so far

BF2, no problems, actually runs sweeter imo.
Fraps, no problems.
CSS, No problems.
DoW/WA, No problems.
Real Player, QT and so on no issues.
FEAR/Combat, runs better than on Beta 2 also imo.
CCleaner works but its more effective if you add a custom file to clean to get it to clean the IE files accurately.
Xfire and teamspeak work.

Punkbuster might have issues on some servers (BF2 and FEAR have shown this) unless you disable UAC/UAP.
I'm going to risk using this as my main OS for a bit, im that impressed.

i've had to revert to foobar 0.83 and daemon tools 3.33 (both work perfectly) but everything else works so far. copied over the steam folder from my xp install and that works just fine. also gta:sa and flatout2 work no problem. i'm suprised that the starforce protection included with flatout2 works fine in vista. :)
