Vista Problem PLEASE HELP!

my laptop arrived today. worked well. installin all my stuff. all of a sudden it crashes and now its stuck in a loop of restartin vista and configurin updates 3 of 3 and wont move past 0% and then restarts again and again. please help im tearin my hair out.

Can you boot into safe mode.?

when you turn it on, hit F8 still you're blue in the face and a menu will appear allowing you to start in Safe Mode. WHen you're in, check what Service Pack is installed.

really appreciate help. it always seems to be me that gets problems lol.

i started it in safe mode...and it still reboots itself again and again with the configuring updates 3 of 3 at 0%.

im seriously ticked off. only arrived today.

Ok, have you got a recovery CD with it?

yes but it doesnt do anythin. 2 recorvery cd's but they look identical and i boot from disc but still does the confuguring updates loop.

go into the bios, set the dvd drive to 1st boot device, reboot and when it prompts you, press any key to boot from the disk.
