This may sound really stupid but how are you attempting to shut the computer down ?

are you clicking on the Window icon (old start button)? and then clicking on the big red power button ? if so then all thats going to do is put it in a sort of sleep mode.

You need to click the Window icon then theres a little > icon next to the padlock button, click that > icon then select shutdown.

Chances are your already doing this but it's worth a shot :D

Lol nice try.......

I have the same issue, shutdown deffinately doesn't work correctly ;)

As I was about to re-install xp anyway, I thought I would give this a try, can it be installed cleanly onto a blank HD or does it have to go over the top of XP like an upgrade.
If you can just install onto a clean HD, is the ISO bootable like the xp cd when burned?

Yes - I've tried shutdown & restart - with no success - the system just switches off the monitor and then keeps humming along itself - arrggghhh !!!.

has anyone managed to install an X-Mystique soundcard on RC2?

i've found a pdf file from HDA detailing how to install the x-mystique and x-plosion using the latest beta 64-bit drivers.

But it only gets so far through the installation before i get an error code 39.

it detects the soundcard as a multimedia audio device. starts isntalling the drivers, recognises the name of the card in device manager, installs the c-media software to go with it, copies the drivers then gives me the error

if i'm in safemode it will install it fine but as soon as i restart to normal windows its got a yellow ! next to it in device manager and windows sound properties is etlling me i have no audio device installed

Does anyone know if ATI will release drivers for RC2 or do they expect us to use the RC1 drivers instead?

I have an x1950 crossfire setup but don't want to risk a format until I know my rig is supported.

I used the RC1 drivers and they work fine with my system (RC2).

Anyone know where I can get hold of RC2 5744 now? I got Beta 1, Beta 2 and RC1, and just missed out on this release, as the MS link redirects to the vista homepage now :(

Any ideas? Or have I missed out on this puppy?

thanking you!

Same problem here, i think we have missed the boat :(

Just installed RC2, Window recognized everything, I have no exclamation bubble in device manager :D

Everything seems to be working as it should, no problem rebooting etc...

My question is, Nvidia have a beta GC driver for Vista, anyone here tried it, should I install it?

Ati Radeon Catalyst RC1 on RC2?

9700 Radeon - just have microsoft driver.

Did have a problem with Vista crashing on shutdown but this didn't happen from SAFE mode. So I disabled things in turn and it was the Audigy drivers.

Downloaded a slghtly different version (same version but 31MB instrad of 34MB from audigy site and 2 days later date). Uninstalled the previous ones and installed this and now all seems OK - shuts down without bluescreen and starts up OK.

So all working on Vista - leave well alone?

Has anyone tried the vista RC1 catalyst driver on RC2 ?

yes i'm using it general windows stuff seems ok but fsx randomly works then crashes, at this point i will blame the drivers.

Anyone know is there going to be any Softmod drivers (9800SE > 9800Pro) for Vista? My 9800Pro was alright, but at SE its a bit crap.
