Hi,

Every now and then my resolution seems to be changing automatically, sometimes I notice it on the log in screen, the screen flickers black, then comes back at a lower res.

Spec:

Vista 64
Q6600
GTX260
4GB RAM

The res seems to change to either 1600x1024 or a much lower res (forgot), and seems to occur as I'm booting up windows some times. My native res is 1680x1050. Which is the res I use for everything.

What could be causing this? Not a major problem at the moment but it could get worse.

Do you have the driver/definition files for your monitor loaded? If the monitor is being driven as a standard display then this could be causing the problem.

I had this problem using my Samsung TV at my monitor, like you, my res is native 1680 x 1050 but sometime would boot up with 1400 x 900.

The only solution I found for this is to turn your PC off, unplug the power lead of your monitor at the plug or from the back, don't really matter where. Turn your PC back on, make sure you got your speakers on so you know when windows starts lol, after you hear the Vista startup sounds, give it 20 secs or so, so you know everything is loaded then plug the monitor back in.

You should not have to do this on every boot, one time should do the trick, at least it has for me anyway.

It might be different for different makes of monitor but it seems like a pretty generic solution to me.

Good luck.
