Vista running like a dog on a laptop - AVG to blame?

It runs fine with 1GB of ram, with numerous applications all open.

It does not run fine with 1GB of ram, and AVG.

It is not ram related

It is AVG related. It's going to be a bug or conflict...

So you made a thread to tell us the answer to your question?

Just get out.

ps: I bloody hate iTunes!

Runs lovely on a fast machine.

PS I would rather go back to XP than use Windows Vista on that spec.

Huh?

No, I made a thread to find out if anyone could (a) suggest why AVG might be running slowly (eg: cause of conflict), or at worse (b) suggest an alternative.

Is that hard to understand? Try re-reading the OP carefully.

Well, Vista's running fine on it now, and as it's all free I can't complain.

Good to hear it is sorted :)

Cheers! Best part of 4 hours probably wasted working out the cause/answer!

Followed by me then installing iTunes on it, and it working on my account, but not my kids account. That was another 2+ hours wasted working out Parental Control was tripping it up, and having to do a regedit to resolve it.

Computers!!!
