When trying to install vista on to t7k500 320 gb it shows them as being there but then says they only have 298gbcapacity and says there unrecognisable,I have posted a similar thread on the OS Forum but no one seems to have answered,So if you have any help it would be appreciated

you need to partition them and then format the unrecognisable drive for vista to see them..

as for the size that's becoz

when formatted using ntfs/fat32 you only get 298gig but if you read it in bits its 320gig

just like when you format a 250gig you only get 232gig but in bits its 250gig

Have the drives been used before? Are they in any form of RAID array?

There should be an option to format the disk as part of the install, have you tried that?

hitachi t7k500

No they are not part of a raid array also they are brand new and I thought there would be an option to format them but vista does not recognise them,They are plugged into Sata 1 and Sata 2 on a asus P5N32-e plus mobo.
They are shown but vista prompts for drivers and hitachi says windows should have all relevant drivers?

How are the SATA ports configured in the BIOS - Advanced Menu >> On Board Devices >> Serial ATA Configuration.

You shouldn't need any drivers but if for any reason it turns out that they're required they'll be from NVidia rather than Hitachi.
