vista transparency in .net

how do i do it basically, i want to set the background of a form to the blurred semi transparent funkiness for some apps for college, just to show off, but can't figure out how to do it, does anybody have any tips? using visual studio 2005 with the service pack on vista ultimate

nobody? i've just found it in Nero startsmart so will try and mess with that, but doubt it'll decoimpile at all, i just hope i won't have to use orcas...

The System.Windows.Forms.Form class has an Opacity property that should do what you want.

Don't think he's talking about opacity, but the blurred effect around the edges of windows in Vista.

Setting the opacity won't do this, as Inquisitor says I reckon you'll have to use WPF to do this.

Aha, I think I just picked up on the phrase "semi transparent" and didn't notice "blurred" in the original post. As you mention, you'd probably need to look at WPF to achieve this effect, or write a lot of clever code!

Under Vista all non-client area of a window is painted in the glass effect. In .NET you'll have to either use 1) WPF or 2) Win32 interop to modify the client region of your window.

i could only find how to do it in C# too, which i've got it working with... only problem is i'm meant to be using vb.net in college

It should be a walk in the park to convert C# to VB.NET
