VISTA TWEAKS

System restore is not virus/malware protection and it cannot be blamed if foolish users click on things online and get malware whihc infects the system and in turn restore points.

Superfetch is awsome, my hdd only gets used for gaming, cos vista has put my eveyday apps in the memory. Also cos I use standby instead of shutdown, my apps are still in the memory when I switch on everyday. So my hdd is having a easy life, not doing hardly any work:D

System restore has worked a charm for me on more than one occasion where things have been acting up. I would never rely on it to remove malware however.

System Restore is a godsend from a Tech Support point of view, fixed too many corrupt profiles that a normal editing the profilelist entry via regedit doesnt fix.

My favourite tweak is turning off windows search (indexing), really cba that starting up and slowing the machine down as Im trying to do something important.

Oh and setting Windows Update to manual instead of automatic can save reboot/cold startup pain waiting for never ending automatic updates to install when you least want them too.
