Vista ultimate - first impression

LOL. I thought that and then did some delving and it's quite impressive.

I didn't even find all the "free" programs installed as standard until day 2!

iPhoto .... errr.... I mean picture viewer is nice

iDVD ...... errr.. I mean DVD creator is also nice ;)

very nice effect yeah. not very useful due to the slight delay before you can activate the next screen and due to the fact that alt tab is still there. but its nice to show off with to your friends lol

However i do like the realtime mini screens when you hover a window in the taskbar. sweet for checking on downloads etc without bringing up the window.

flip 3d is pure gimmick, has no use whatsoever. Alt-tab is far more useful.

There's no difference though is there, same number of key presses, same result. Except the flip3d looks more exciting...

Didn't want to get into an argument but that's what I thought. Plus it's nice to see the window (3d or not) when they all say "Explorer" on them in alt-tab surely?

Takes slightly longer too than normal Alt tab as have to wait for the zoom in zoom out effects and scrolling per windows is slower. but i like it :P just hard to remember to use it as used to using alt tab hehe

rest of windows os very nice. very solid and smooth.

taking me awhile to find some of the options etc as its changed a lot.

most impressive was the install .. no dirty dos screen to look at. nice sleek install screen with mouse enabled.

ps i cant connect to a network with it :/

downstairs pc *running xp pro* is on the same router buut my vista cant detect it. and you only have one little window saying search for networks... thats all.. doesnt show on that so i can do nothing else

any ideas?

Did it find your wireless card drivers? Mines a Belkin PCI card so I am stuffed at the moment for wireless as they have no 64bit drivers out.

Waiting for the end of the month for a couple of drivers actually...

The only problem with the photo viewer is the one most important part is missing (again, same with XP). The resize tool, you can crop, change colour, contrast, brightness, but not resize! What idiot decided to leave that out? It would be like a car manufacturer building a car... "Power steering? check, electric windows? check, ABS? check, engine? ah :o ..."

It means I have to go into PS just to resize a picture. :(
