Vista won't extract ZIPs.

it's asking me to find a program on the web that'll unzip and zips i download, it never used to do this. any idea how to fix it?

You could try 7-zip if your not using it already, great little program and under 1MB :). Not sure on fixing it though, are you using a specific program to try and unzip or are you trying to unzip using the windows explorer looking type app built in to windows?

I'm trying to use the windows built in app.

I know I can use other prgrams like winace etc.. but i want something that just works as part of windows explorer, preferably the propper program.
 
Tried right clicking on the .zip file and then click "Open With" and then click "Compressed (zipped) folders" ?

cheers, but slight problem with that...

Unzip the fix and extract the .REG file to the Desktop. Right-click the REG file and choose Merge. Note that you need to be an administrator to apply these fixes.

I can't unzip the REG file either.


apparently my default program for Zips is Notepad...
