Or atleast seriously injured it, im totally lost on this one, cant figure out whats wrong at all.

The HDD will boot to the start menu (safe mode etc) but wont boot into windows at all (hangs during start up), refuses to start up in safe mode (hangs when loading crccheck.sys i think it was) and refuses to boot from either floppy disc or cd/dvd, tried to boot my "ohh crap" cd to re-format and revert back to XP but system hangs just after i press the "any" key to boot from CD, similair thing happens when booting from a win98 floppy.

I unplugged the HDD and booting from CD/DVD and Floppy works fine, Im totally stumped on this, if it was boot sector failure the drive wouldnt boot at all (as in not even to the safe mode screen) but it does, as for causing the system to die when trying to boot from floppy/cd/dvd i dont understand just doesnt make sense.

Anyone that could offer a helping hand, i would be extremly grateful (before i pull out the rest of my hair :P)
