Well my overclock at the moment is 2.8ghz (400x7), and CPU-Z recognises this. but Vista x64 is reporting it as 2.33ghz. Is there something wrong? or should I just ignore it?

Have you turned off speedstep in the BIOS?

This will set your clock speed lower when your PC is idle to save power and reduce heat. Try running a game or something CPU demanding and it should report the proper speed.

EDIT: Just noticed you said it shows correctly in CPU-Z, if that’s the case its probably something else.

yeah, the speed stays at 2800mhz in CPU-Z and C.I.A.2 or whatever its called is disabled in the bios.

I sometimes get this too in both XP and Vista 64. i could not be sure if it was running slower or not, so i chose to ignore it. Even in XP, sometimes i boot and it seems to step up and down, other times it does not.

have you checked its full name

Vista reports the model as Intel Core 2 Duo 2400mhz speed 3000mhz or something when i overclock my e6600

What CPU-Z says is what you will have.

Ignore all other clock readings tbh.

vista doesn't realize I have knocked the multi down 1 notch and reports my CPU speed as 3.7ghz when it's really 3.2
