Ok, ill try and put it in as few words as possible.

PC has Vista & Xp on dual boot.

Vista was setup to connect to local server domain

XP wasnt

Setup XP to connect to domain using same domain account that was used to log in to Vista

Vista would not log in to domain giving "Trust relationship between workstation and primary domain failed"

A suggestion was that each OS needed a different machine name

XP machine name was changed

Vista would still not log in

XP domain connection was cut off (simply added it to a bogus workgroup, couldn't find option to disconnect from domain)

Vista still doesn't login using server domain account

So, any clues? I can login locally on Vista and access the domain using the account details which i find odd.

Thanks for any help you can give!

XP stole Vista's machine name. Then you changed XP's machine name.

You need to rejoin Vista to the domain again to take the machine account back, or it won't work.

Put both the XP and Vista instances in bogus workgroups.

Remove the old machine accounts from your active directory.

Set each instance to use a new unique machine name.

Go through the process of adding each OS instance to your domain via the normal methods.

if this is the only way, I'll let the tech guy do it, my boss doesn't want me tinkering around with the computers anymore lol!

and i actually have work to do today, which is odd!

Just re-add it. Same as in XP.

Either change Vista to a workgroup, then rejoin. Or use the wizard and just tell it to join again.
