Vista -> XP licence usability?

As with being able to run 2k under an xp licence, does anybody know if it's possible to run xp under a vista licence?

I'm trying to install a couple of machines for video recording and the software is causing problems under vista, tried compatability mode but it's still not right.

So, can i run xp on the cheap or have i got to cough out another 60 quid per machine ?

Stoofa's completely right with what he says in the other thread, just bare in mind that MS won't provide you with any media, so you need some to hand.
