Behind you... Naked!
Ok, Vista64 & Audigy 2.

I dont have Volume controls on my speakers and so I rely on the Keyboards up/down/mute buttons.
My speakers dont have a HeadPhone jack either, and so I need the livedrive for that.

Now, whenever I plug the headphones into the Live Drive, or if I take them out of it, the speakers ( or headphones ) suddenly go to full-blast.

Only does it in Vista.

Anyone know of a cure?

Aint it typical... This is an issue I have had with Vista since the first time I tried it... Im now on my 7th attempt at getting a good vista install and I decide to post about it and what happens 2 seconds after posting.... I find a cure... The latest drivers sort of seem to fix it.

Cotton wool is certainly high on the list of options though!

LOL

does that cure the low output from vista ?
i noticed myself that vista's sound output is a lot low lower and of lesser quality than of xp's

Vista is lesser quality than that of XP?

You are not allowed to say that!

When I said this, I was called a liar becaose of Vistas superior coding etc etc etc.

So you, and I, as well as the many thousands of others who found this, are all wrong.

Now sshhhh!

Seriously though, at this moment, the output is fine and I have no issues with the Audio at this time...

Im usually only prone to Bad Direct sound driver when I pull the headphones out or into the jack and then click another song within a second or two of doing the plugging/unplugging and of course the high volume more recently, but right now it seems to be fine.

well i usually connect my pc to the t.v which also outputs to the midi system....and clearly its not as good quality...so its not just my pc speakers(logitech ones...not cheap crap).
i also have an audigy 2 same as you.

as for low volume i know im not the first to mention this as ive read a few other ppl post abt the same problem.

but i know what you mean though....some ppl can be a bit touchy if you pick faults out of vista......oh well hopefully it will be something thats fixed in the future

vista doesnt have any faults..

it IS a fault in itself, you have to patch that fault by installing something else over it after 100 formats and new HDD's

but yes MY Audigy had serious problems and glitches, and half the time it didnt even recognise the card was plugged in!

Don't blame Vista, blame Creative's Vista drivers if anything, we all know how **** Creative are.

No problems here on my Xonar under Vista.

well TBH, all XP drivers should work on Vista because it should be backwards compatible. so i'll still blame microsoft.

and the Xonar, well im half and half on what to get (still got my Audigy 2 ZS).. and its getting grey hair's ...

but most games have EAX X-FI type crap dont they, so with a zonar i would be able to max out the sound or what??

im gonna stay on XP but i might downgrade to vista so thats why im hesitant about buying creative

So howcome plenty of other companies can release working Vista drivers but Creative **** them up? Riiiiiiiight it's Microsofts fault that Creative slip up, despite all the other companies doing just fine on the driver front.

Nice logic, also keep wishing for backwards compatibilty, why should Microsoft put all that work into such a thing (which is probably impossible due to the different architecture) when companies can create new drivers, it's just unlucky for you Creative suck royal balls.

Vista isn't a downgrade either, it's better than XP in every way I think. Xonar supports up to EAX 5.0 too I believe.

never had any problems myself. used vista 32bit for over a year and i've had vista x64 for a couple of months now and my audigy2 card works just fine. but i do use the x-fi drivers - they give superior sound quality over the proper audigy2 drivers (i have no idea why this is :p).

@FatRakoon, i have the platinum ex with a breakout box. i'll hook it up later and see if i have the same issue when disconnecting headphones.

Im on the whole very happy with creative cards I have to admit... Sure, they have had their share of issues, more than they should have had too, so thats a smacked hand to creative for that, but in the same breath, they have also proven themselves to be the best man for the job in most cases.

For me, as only one example...

My speakers are Altec Lansing 955 - These have no volume or headphone socket or anything.

So, therefore, I rely on the livedrive for the headphone socket and the keyboard for the volume control.

Sure, Onboard Audio can sort out the headphone issues with using the ports on a case and the audio headers, but stuff that.

I am considering a replacement but I have not seen one that I would be happy with as I feel that the benefits of having one is not worth the outlay.

When this card dies, I have a couple of other Cards to fall back on, and the LiveDrive too is one of a number that I have... They do their jobs just fine 99% of the time.
