Has anyone had any issues with Vista64? I'm about to install it on a new hdd not over my 32bit vista just incase I need to switch back but wanted to know if anyone has had any issues?

I have an XFI Gamer for reference and wanted to know if the creative 64bit drivers are stable ?

Also I have a 2nd hdd with "my docs" on and wanted dot know if Vista64 manages hdds differently, ie: if I import the disk to vista64 will it still be usable on vista32 if I need to witch back to 32bit ?

Cheers!

Hi there,

Recently, due to me finally splashing out for 4GB of RAM, I switched to 64-bit Vista and I haven't had a single issue or problem (well, apart from Tag and Rename not adding itself to the right click menu that is...)

Soundcard drivers from Creative are finally sorted, or so it seems, and your back-up drive will be fine with 64-bit. I have a secondary hard drive for my music, documents etc and it's been used on XP, Vista 32 and now Vista 64, all without issue or the need to reformatt etc.

I had a few random problems with my sound card (XFI music) but it's all working now fine in X64. Few minor issues like quicktime not showing certain files and one or two other lesser know applications not working. Generally though, everything works just the same as 32 bit.

I am thinking of getting Vista know that most of the driver problems have been sorted but what sort of affect does moving from XP 32 to Vista 64 have on performance?

I've just carried out a full rebuild of an XP 32 machine to Vista Ultimate 64. Carried out a full format and re-install.

Performance for me seems very similar. haven't noticed any drops in game performance or any other applications.

Though I know some people have been having issues with File transfers.

For my system I installed Ultimate 64 in 20 mins, then put Office 2007 on in 10 mins and was back up and running with email and internet another 10 mins after that. 40 mins for a full rebuild to basic operation I thoguth was very good. Mind you I'm still loading other software as and when I need it.

I'd say it was a good operating system, as long as you have a modern system to be able to run it on that will have the correct driver support.

For me I'm relatively happy with it, though the new GUI is taking some time to get used to .
