I am applying for the police soon and I was wondering if anyone had any idea how to work out your visual acuity. I got the following information from the Strathclyde police website
I wear contacts most of the time when I’m out or driving and the pwr on the left is -1.50 and the right is -1.25 but I don’t understand how these numbers relate to the 6/36, anyone got any ideas?
I’m considering saving up for corrective surgery on them if it proves to be an issue which i think it might.
Visual Acuity Form
If you wear glasses or contact lenses, you are required to have a Visual Acuity Form completed by your optician. The completed form must be returned with your application.
The eyesight requirements for the Force have recently changed:
Uncorrected visual acuity: 6/36 (or better) in each eye.
Corrected visual acuity: 6/12 (or better) in each eye.
Binocular vision (+/- correction) : 6/6 (or better).
Near vision (+/- correction) : N9 (or better).
