Hi,
Just wondering if someone here has experience in setting up VLANs on Draytek routers / switches as I'm a bit lost in setting this up.
Equipment I'm using is as below, I'll try to explain what's setup at the moment and what I'm trying to achieve
Draytek 2960 Router
Draytek G1241 Switch
Draytek AP900 Access Point
We've got 5 different VLANs set up at the moment - 1 for our office, 1 for our WiFi and other 3 for other rooms in our building which are rented out. Fairly simple setup - 4 of these are port based (router has 4 ports) and the WiFi AP tags the WiFi traffic with it's VLAN ID and this all works fine.
Now we need to add another one using the switch and that's where I'm getting a bit confused.
The plan is to have Port 2 (currently port based VLAN ID 20) connecting into the new switch and then split into 2 VLANs from there - so the existing 20, then new VLAN ID 30.
So far I've tried just connecting the switch up to the network (which is part of VLAN ID 10) so no matter what ID I tag the ports on the switch as, any devices connected end up on VLAN ID 10.
Would I need to connect the switch to Port 2, tag this port as both VLAN ID 20 + 30 - then assign individual ports on the switch to either 20/30? Or would the port on the router not need to be tagged at all, as the ports on the switch would be assigned to the specific VLANs already?
I hope this makes sense, the only instructions I found from Draytek was a PDF in Dutch which hasn't been much help.
