VLC 2.0 for windows is here!

"It supports many new devices and BluRay Discs (experimental)." as quoted from the link, so not the finished article.

I downloaded VLC 2.0 last night, but haven't had time to road test it yet.

Must include some fairly cool stuff to go from 1.1.2 (or whatever it was) straight to 2.0

i installed v2 last night, paused my show, went to play bf3 and as soon as the game pops up to play, vlc crashes :(

I think this is v2 as a full release. It's the support for BluRay that is new and experimental. There might be a 2.0.1 release later on if they need to improve on that. :)

I played MKV on the previous version.:D
The question is, can it play BlueRay discs?

The 2.0.0 branch release can...but you need to download some key files from other places loosely associated with VLC :P

Not had a chance to look at this, but I presume its going in similar vain to the branch version :D. (Really do hate most blu-ray software around at the moment, really don't need a massive UI to watch movies with!!)

Thanks will check out this update to VLC.

Also didnt know about MPC-HC will grab that as well, use it alongside VLC and then trash one of them when Ive taken my pick!

I've found that MPC-HC will occasionally choke on files that VLC plays fine, and vice versa... doesn't hurt to keep them both installed IMO, just set the one you like best as the default video player and have the other one available from your Explorer context menu. :)
